ALTERNATIVE PHOTO

A personal reflection of one of nature’s life sustaining resources. This series was the beginning of my personal journey into making art based on the theme of “WATER”. I looked at my own local ways as a means of reintroducing myself to the water around me,

Through the years my partner and I have worked a small farm. This series reflects on the planting of several “hoop houses” to make a more controlled growing climate. As there are many things I love about our

hoop houses and growing food in them, I still question how sustainable they really are. The plastic that the average hoophouse is covered with last approximately five years. Often weather over time shreds the

plastic. The bulk of those bits and pieces end up in the soil. Not my idea of healthy compost and a way of sustainable farming. More a necessity to use as a guard against climate change.

The “flora” theme is one that I return to often. A critical element of this work is that all photography is that of my own botanical growing endeavors. They are a part of my family.
